A CYCLING JOURNEY FROM PRAGUE TO POTSDAM

Together we want to create unforgettable memories and promote international meetups on the bike and road!
ABOUT OUR JOURNEY!
On October 3rd, we will cycle from Prague to Potsdam over approximately 10-12 days. Daily distances range from 40-80 km (depending on elevation), including rest days. We are still looking for participants aged 16-30 for this trip. Tickets (such as existing Deutschlandtickets, ICE tickets, etc.), accommodation, and basic provisions (including at least one hot meal) are financially covered by funding from the MBJS (https://mbjs.brandenburg.de/). We aim to camp as much as possible and visit projects like the 'Kühlhaus Görlitz' (https://kuehlhaus-goerlitz.de/), where we will also stay overnight. Additionally, we will sleep in accommodations as needed due to weather or for recovery. You need to bring your own bicycle and camping gear!
French and Serbian people will be participating in the trip, as it is an international youth exchange. (The selection of countries is based on our partner organizations.) We will be around 10 - 15 people!
THE ARRIVAL (@Prague)
The arrival will take place together on October 2nd in Prague by train, allowing the group to get to know each other and settle in for the evening. The bike tour will begin on October 3rd. We will bring our own bikes and gear on the train! If you have any questions, please let us know! The transportation of your bikes is also financially covered.
What can you expect?
CYCLING, CYCLING, CYCLING!
With your bike suitable for touring, we will overcome both elevation and distance together, cycling around 40-80 km per day depending on the terrain and the amount of elevation. You should also have bike bags for transporting your belongings, as well as rain gear!
BRING YOUR OWN BIKE!
The cool thing is, you will bring your own bike with you! To be perfectly prepared for the trip, you'll set off on the journey with your personal bike. If there are punctures or other mechanical problems along the way, there's staff from the in-house bike workshop who can handle the most common issues!
CAMPING & OUTDOOR
As long as the weather is kind to us, we want to camp outdoors as much as possible. Alternatively, we will sleep in appropriate accommodations. You should bring a good sleeping bag, tent, sleeping mat, and some travel dishes such as a cup, spoon and plate.
INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE
We are traveling as an international youth group with young adults from Germany, France, and Serbia. Team members from each country will assist with translation. However, the main language of communication on the bike tour will be English!
THIS IS THE WAY.
Our route will take us through the "Riesengebirge" in the Czech Republic, along the Oder River (Oder Cycling Route), and via the Berlin Wall (Cycle) path back to Potsdam. The tour covers approximately 500 kilometers, with some elevation gain, especially in the first few days. You can find the roughly planned route on Komoot!
PROJECTS & WORK-SHOPS
When the bike trip is over, together we will arrive in Potsdam (Berlin) and have a few days to relax, cook, participate in small upcycling workshops, and visit interesting projects in Potsdam and Berlin. Even some sightseeing would be possible. We can decide as a group!

After signing up, you’ll receive a form to fill out with your personal information and send back to us. We ask for a solidarity participation fee of at least 25€ (a fee is required by the sponsor's guidelines). That’s it! We look forward to having you with us.

In 2022 we have done a youth exchange and bike project with people from germany and france! We have been making great memories together within 12 days. We visited the (unfortunately) now completely destroyed village "Lützerath" near Cologne that has been fighting against the exploitation of coal mining back then.
